QUESTION #1 (of 2)
Flesh-starving accountability works. It has been proven in both the World and the Church. But flesh-starving accountability-based escape is extremely difficult. It’s hard work. Extremely hard work (see www.wileygrafbooks.com/news/the-hardest-thing-v7). Which begs the question: Is flesh-starving accountability the only God-Designed Way of Escape from lusts of the flesh? If Salvation is by Grace, why would escape only be by works?
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Salvation is by grace, through faith, not of works, lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). But then the Biblical God of Mercy and Grace did an about-face and decided to make escape from lusts of the flesh the hardest thing that an addict will ever do in his life. Hmmm ...
If Salvation is by Grace (and it most assuredly is), why would escape only be by works? Extremely difficult works. Something to think about the next time you hear that grit-your-teeth, strap-yourself-in, white-knuckle-it accountability is the only God-Designed Way of Escape from addictive lusts of the flesh.
