The Way of Escape Battle Plan is supported by only a single, one-person Case Study. An earlier post in this series recommended conducting a larger Clinical Study (see www.wileygrafbooks.com/news/reaching-the-83-percent-v9). Today’s post outlines what that larger Clinical Study might look like.

Some inspiration from professional golfer, Tiger Woods. In his heyday, bettors had the option of taking Tiger against the rest of the 150-player field in the coming week’s golf tournament (figure below). A similar challenge is issued here. The Spirit-Feeding Way of Escape Battle Plan challenges all Flesh-Starving accountability-based battle plans in a race to the Complete Mind Renewal Finish Line:

(The Spirit-Feeding Way of Escape Battle Plan) vs. (All Flesh-Starvers). GAME ON!

FLESH STARVERS

All of the higher profile Bible-based purity programs are accountability-based. By definition then, each is attempting to reprogram the addict’s brain by starving the flesh. Each Purity Program Developer can therefore conduct the Flesh-Starver portion of the Clinical Study using their existing program, without modification.

SPIRIT-FEEDER: THE WAY OF ESCAPE BATTLE PLAN

Meeting #1 (45-60 minutes): How to conduct the Spirit-Feeder portion of their Clinical Study? In the first of two meetings, give the men participating in the study a brief overview of A Way of Escape, with emphasis given to the need for (and nature of) the Spirit-anointed apps (15-20 minutes). Sharing 3-4 of my 23 apps will give the men an idea of what to look for as they begin to build their library of Spirit-anointed apps (15-20 minutes). Allow another 15-20 minutes for Q&A. Then give the men a few weeks to individually find 2-3 Spirit-anointed apps to share with the group. Before breaking up, schedule a day and time for Meeting #2.

Meeting #2 (100-150 minutes): A 10-man group will have 20-30 apps for the group to sample together when they reconvene for Meeting #2. Take 100-150 minutes to view the 20-30 apps as a group. From these 20-30 apps, each man ought to be able to build a Starter Library of 4-5 apps that consistently escort him into the presence of the Spirit. In the months to follow, each man participating in the study will then record the number of Attacks of the Flesh (AF) and Episodes of Acting Out (AO) in a table similar to that found on page 161 of A Way of Escape.

Completing the Clinical Study: That’s it! The table found on page 161 is all that I needed in the Way of Escape Case Study. The page 161 data (and notes following) is all that I needed to verify and document that:

1)      Attacks of the Flesh reduced in strength, and occurred only about one-fifth (1/5) as often once my neural pathways were rewired

2)      My last episode of Acting Out sexually (03/11/19) occurred a little more than 20 months after I was first inspired to write A Way of Escape (2017 July Fourth Weekend), and a little less than 15 months after I first began to collect data (12/15/17)

All that remains is to collect and compare the Spirit-Feeder results to those generated in the Flesh-Starver portion of the Clinical Study.

Immersion-Healing Correlation: The time required to achieve Complete Mind Renewal will be a function of multiple variables. But none bigger or more important than the frequency with which addicts immerse themselves in their Spirit-anointed apps. The more frequent the immersions, the faster the brain will reprogram and heal. Galatians 5:16 provides the Biblical backing for confidently believing that these repeated immersions in the Spirit will speed rewiring of damaged neural pathways, shorten the timeline to healing, and greatly ease each man’s escape (vs. results generated in the Flesh-Starver portion of the Clinical Study).

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

[NOTE: If I had fully understood the correlation between immersion and healing back in 2017, I could have further accelerated my healing. My last episode of Acting Out sexually would have occurred earlier than 03/11/19; likely sometime back in 2018. As impressive as they are, the 15-and-20-month time durations cited above should not be strictly interpreted to be lower bounds on the timelines for my healing. If I had fully understood the correlation between immersion and healing back in 2017, both of those numbers would have been even lower.]

A GAME-CHANGING BOOK HAS ARRIVED

In A Way of Escape, readers learn how feeding the Spirit results in a much easier-to-successfully navigate Escape Route. Readers learn how to renew their minds—not by starving the flesh, but—by stepping up the degree to which they “walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16). They learn how to build a library of Spirit-anointed, flesh-diffusing apps. Apps that are uniquely fitted to them, and their unique Spirit-filling triggers (Ephesians 5:18b-19).

The still-struggling now have another option. The still-struggling now have fresh hope for discovering that long-sought-after way of escape from temptation and resulting sin (I Corinthians 10:13). A way that—because it is wholly Spirit-powered—does not require enlisting the aid of an accountability partner or group. Truly, a game-changer!

THANK YOU, HOLY SPIRIT!
