In this series of 91 blogs, much is made of the Holy Spirit Helper’s inner-working power to help still-struggling believers escape addictive lusts of the flesh. But there is another less-discussed evangelistic benefit. The Spirit also provides seekers with the inner-working power to “hold out” once they decide to follow Christ. Power that seekers cannot possibly be aware of in their unregenerate state.

I AM AFRAID THAT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO “HOLD OUT”

“I am afraid that I will not be able to hold out.” A genuine concern of seekers that are still struggling to overcome addictive lusts of the flesh.

THE SPIRIT PROVIDES THE INNER-WORKING POWER TO “HOLD OUT”

In their unregenerate state, seekers have only their own strength to call upon in their efforts to “hold out” against addictive lusts of the flesh. In their unregenerate state, seekers can only attempt to “hold out” by starving the flesh.

Might our evangelistic efforts be more fruitful as seekers are made aware of a practical, Scripture-based way of “holding out?” A way that is not a flesh-starver. Might our evangelistic efforts be more fruitful as seekers are made aware of a second way of “holding out” (see www.wileygrafbooks.com/news/second-way-of-escape-v9)? A wholly Spirit-powered way (Galatians 5:16). A way that seekers will have access to once they commit to follow Christ.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

A GAME-CHANGING BOOK HAS ARRIVED

In A Way of Escape, readers learn how to “hold out” against addictive lusts of the flesh—not by starving the flesh, but—by stepping up the degree to which they “walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16). They learn how to build a library of Spirit-anointed, flesh-diffusing apps. Apps that are uniquely fitted to them, and their unique Spirit-filling triggers (Ephesians 5:18b-19).

The still-struggling now have another option. The still-struggling now have fresh hope for discovering that long-sought-after way of escape from temptation and resulting sin (I Corinthians 10:13). A way that—because it is wholly Spirit-powered—does not require enlisting the aid of an accountability partner or group.

THANK YOU, HOLY SPIRIT!
